“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” - Zig Ziglar
In by no means do I believe this is a comprehensive list, I’m sure I have countless more lessons to learn. I do know, however, that I have started, and that’s something to be proud of and something to learn from.
Here are 4 lessons that I’m carrying with me as I continue this journey to leave my mark on this world.
Constantly seek new challenges, find new information, meet new people and grow your networks, read, write, listen. Stretch yourself, challenge yourself, get out there. You will surprise yourself to what you can do and you never know what you just might find.
Change the way you look at marketing, don’t think of it is sleazy or manipulative. Look at marketing as the way to let people know what you are doing, what you have to offer. You can’t help anybody, on any level, unless they know what you are doing, can get to you, and hear you. It’s not a way to manipulate but a way to communicate, to get your message across in just the way you hoped, to as many people as possible.
Don’t ask for things, don’t set expectations, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. What you need to do is create as much value as you can, and then give it away for free. To as many people as possible. The more you give, the more ravenous they will be to consume what you are offering and then give that value back to you.
Don’t worry about finding your life’s passion today, just focus on what people really love from you. Do that!
This is huge. You can’t be afraid of failure. You can’t give up. No one will notice you no matter how loud or how well you bark. Most people will quit when their expectations don't get met, but not you. Success can’t be found, it comes with time and persistent effort. It comes from learning lessons from failure.
You must earn what comes to you. Those that keep persisting get wise.
